About Me

I am Joseph Thachil,  a professional having a rich experience in various verticals like economics, media, law etc. Having worked in chambers of commerce, economic research organizations, think tanks, academics etc, I acquired vast experience in policy interpretation, media handling, writing incisive reports for the government, private sector and consultancy firms on topical economic issues. As a political commentator, I am being consulted by a number of business organizations, particularly regarding political dynamics, cross currents in policy making, electoral predictions etc. My pet area is discerning policy alternatives before the governance apparatus to help the private sector and non-governmental organizations to decide on their strategies and action plan.
As media advisor of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (FICCI), I am actively involved in tooling policy alternatives and  articulating the view points of the industry in public domain. My over 35 years of experience in media, has brought me close to the various layers of media including top editors and other professionals. I continues with the  involvement for other business organizations and export promotion councils.

A rare combination of economics and law, has given me an advantage not only in interpreting economic laws but also ferreting out to the increasing interplay of economics in the legal postulates like competition law, anti-dumping etc. My journalistic orientation has helped me to  discern the complex postulates in economic laws  and articulate them in a reader-friendly manner. Close association with corporations has helped me to understand their nuances and to fathom the interplay of economics, law and media.
